RENDEZ-VOUS – CHIMERA: Saint-Saëns: The Swan for Cello and Piano – Camille Thomas & Julien Brocal

Rendez-vous is a musical invitation from cellist Camille Thomas and pianist Julien Brocal, offering listeners a unique and intimate experience. Recorded at and produced by Tippet Rise Art Center in Fishtail, Montana, the project reimagines iconic classical works by pairing them with new compositions by the artists that draw on different influences and eras.

Satie's Gymnopédie No. 1, an emblematic work of French music, together with Saint-Saëns's The Swan, served as starting points from which a new musical chimera was created: Reflection No. 2 (Chimère). It features Satie’s slow, languid chords, subtly modified by Brocal to accommodate the intact melody of The Swan on the cello.

The film was captured in front of the Domo by Ensamble Studio and features dancer Camille Di Fiore.
